Things Participants Should Know About the Tour

These details are generally covered by the tour and will help you prepare:

      • Visa and Passport: If you are traveling internationally, you must have a Turkish entry visa(if required) and a passport with sufficient validity beyond the end date of the trip. The visa fee is not included in the tour price.
      • Domestic Flight: A domestic flight from Istanbul to Izmir is included in the tour. Flight times and airport transfers will be arranged by the tour organization.
      • Meals: The tour fee includes 6 breakfasts, 6 lunches, and 6 dinners. Lunches and dinners are generally expected to offer a local cuisine experience.
      • Guidance: Professional, English-speaking guidance will be provided throughout the tour. (If you require a Turkish-speaking guide, you should contact the tour company.)
      • Transportation: Transportation between sites will be provided via air-conditioned private vehicles.

      Budget and Extra Expenses

      • Gratuities (Tips): Gratuities for the guide, driver, and hotel staff are not included in the tour price. Tipping is a common and expected practice in the service industry in Turkey.
      • Personal Expenses: Set aside a budget for personal expenses such as souvenirs, drinks outside the tour package, or snacks.

      Communication and Technology

      • Power Adapters: Electrical outlets in Turkey are typically Type F (two round pins) and the voltage is $220\text{V}$. If you are traveling from a different country, remember to bring the appropriate power adapter for your electronic devices.
      • Portable Charger (Powerbank): The battery on your phone or camera may run out quickly during long, intense days spent at ancient sites. Carrying a fully charged power bank will be very useful for staying in touch and taking photos during the trip.
      What to bring

        Health and Accommodation

        • Water Consumption: Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration, especially during the summer months.
        • Medication: If you take any regular prescription medication, remember to bring enough supplies for the entire duration of the tour.
        • Pamukkale Thermal Stay: Since the accommodation in Pamukkale is at a thermal hotel, you might want to bring a swimsuit/shorts and flip-flops if you plan to enjoy the thermal waters.
